It's a tradition that seems to be renewed every minute of every day. People drawn to a place like Crystal Cove are usually very interesting. They are people who live with imagination. Those who hand-built the original cottages here in the 1920s and '30s certainly did. Painters, poets, craftsmen… all were strongly individualistic, and shared a love for freedom. The little colony they established here still stands, a reminder that time passes differently when you live near the sea.
